Someday, I’m going to have to get Kia to explain to me how they were able to take something that already looked really, really awesome, and then make it even more so. I’m talking, of course, about the 2012 Kia Soul, which got a whole new generational upgrade as far as design is concerned, but for those of us that loved the way the first-gen Soul looked, it’s kind of hard to imagine it looking any better. But it does. Oh, it most certainly does.

In Chicago, Kia Soul fans have been very supportive of the new changes, and every Waukegan dealer is anxious to get his (or her) hands on the new model in the coming months. Of course, not everybody digs the urban crossover, but those that do love really love it, so when redesigning the engineers at Kia didn’t want the Soul to lose its soul. At its heart, the vehicle still looks like itself, but there have been quite a few improvements, starting with the exterior.

What was once a pretty sporty vehicle now looks even sportier, with alterations to the grilles, lights, front bodywork, and wheels. It’s also got a new bumper and a wider overall stance, and different iterations of the model offer even more individually unique options as well.

There are four trims from which to choose—the Soul 1 and 2 (the regular trim grade options), and two “Soul Originals,” the Hunter and Quantum, that offer a few more styling perks. Any one of the gang would be enough to turn heads driving down the road, but as always, having multiple options isn’t something people have ever really complained about.

Imagine taking a hottie like Jessica Biel and finding a way to make her even more beautiful. It seems impossible, doesn’t it? What about improving those classic Boston Celtics uniforms? Not a chance. Or hey, let’s see if we can’t get the Colorado Rockies to look even more majestic and sublime! Ain’t happening. But if it could happen, wouldn’t it blow all of our minds?

It absolutely would, and when it comes to something as previously cool as the Soul getting cooler, well… consider our minds blown.

Updates for 2011 models

The newest Sedona models have a few updates we’re sure you’d like to hear about.  The powertrain is all new and it offers better fuel economy.  Not only can you get a minivan for a good price, but you’ll also be able to stretch your gas budget that much further.  The engine is a 3.5-liter V-6 that is paired up with a new six-speed automatic transmission.  This should make your drive to and from the grocery store, practices, and work very exciting and enjoyable.

There are also many more features that are standard options that were not in Sedona models found in our inventory of Round Lake Beach used cars.  Let’s see which ones apply to the trim choices.

• Bluetooth, Reverse parking sensors, second row bucket seats, Satellite radio, steering-wheel controls- LX and EX models
• Power-adjusted front seats, power rear-quarter windows, and a rearview camera- found on the EX models

Additional Options for this van include:

• Rearview camera on the LX; a navigation system on the Sedona EX.
• EX Luxury Package offers features such as leather seats, heated front seats, power-adjustable pedals, and a sunroof
• If you have children or other passegers you’ll be bringing along on longer trips, you might want to consider the Entertainment Package.  This offers time-passing amenities such as a CD changer, a DVD entertainment system and wireless headphones.

Powertrain wise, there are a few options.  First off, you can purchase a base Sorento for about $20K.  It comes with a four-cylinder 2.4 liter engine that’ll give you 172 HP and 166 pound-feet of torque.  It that satisfies you, great, but if not there’s the next option.  For about $25-30K, you can get a more powerful 3.5 liter, V6 that pumps out 273 horsepower and 247 pound-feet of torque.  Hey, if you’re gonna spring for a crossover/SUV, get the more powerful engine, you won’t be sorry!

We can only expect the accuracy and speed of the internet to be top notch.

Of course, you don’t get a lot of feedback on the vehicle by launching hamsters into oddly repetitive traffic. But I have visited an area dealer for a Chicago Kia Soul test drive previously. There are a lot of things to love about the Soul and very little to dislike. Obviously, you need to be the type of person looking for a vehicle that delivers lots of interior space while providing excellent fuel-economy and remaining sized for life on the go in an urban environment.

Also good if you’re the type of person who is looking for a fun car, a car endorsed and driven by hamsters.

Well, the Classic Dealer Group seems to be optimistic. I remember the Waukegan Kia Forte test drive I took about a month ago. This review highlights one of the great things about the Forte, its user-friendliness. Everything in the Forte seems designed with the driver and passengers in mind. Isn’t that how a car is supposed to be after all. This article makes another good point that the Kia Forte’s engine provides a better driving experience than its competitors. Ok, maybe it’s not a Ferrari, but the updates we can expect on the new 2010 Waukegan Kia Rio are enough to write (and dream) about.   I checked in with my favorite Waukegan new car dealer to find out more information and, unfortunately for us guys that eat and sleep Kia, information is slim.  But for fear of giving you a heart attack with anticipation, I’ll give you the skinny on hours of non-stop research coupled with 3 bowls of Lucky Charms and 1 bathroom break:  this car is going to rock for the consumer that wants reliability with super-solid amenities.

The outside of the car will get a slew of design updates including a new, sharper grille, an edgier air intake and a sporty set of fog lights.  It gives the car, dare I say, a rally car feel similar to the likes of a Subaru Impreza.  This, of course, offers new opportunities for the driver to add homemade sponsor stickers and a made-up race number to the outside of the car.  Start making loud engine noises with your mouth at a red light while staring at the driver next to you, and guess what?  You’re in the racing business.
