A new ad campaign has been rolled out for the 2010 Kia Soul and it brings back some fun-loving, furry creatures we’ve seen before.  The hamsters used in a previous campaign for the Soul were widely accepted, so the company felt that bringing them back was a smart move!

The new campaign came out the end of May and runs through the month of July.  The “rapping hamsters” can be seen doing their thing on Comedy Central, Fuse, MTV, MTV2 and Spike.  Since social media is such a growing industry, the campaign will also stream through Pandora, Facebook, Social Vibe’s PetVille, KMA’s Kia.com. and a YouTube contest. Very cool!

The video’s song lyrics will be sung to the tune of “The Choice Is Yours”, which was performed by the 1990′s sensation Black Sheep!  The hamsters will be driving around in an urban setting behind the wheel of a Kia Soul painted a cool green color.  They’ll be singing “You can get with this, or you can get with that”, comparing the boxy style of the Soul to other Antioch used cars of similar shapes. The other cars will be represented by washing machines, cardboard boxes, and toasters.  Pretty cool concept, as the song is definitely a catchy one!

The Kia Optima, a mid-size four-door sedan, has been selling steadily since 2000, all throughout the world. It’s most recent redesigning took place earlier this year and it was unveiled at the 2010 New York Auto Show sporting a brand new look, design and engine.

Most recently Kia has been talking about a wagon coupe combination using the third generation Optima sedan as their blueprint and backbone of the project. Kia head designer Peter Schreyer has openly expressed interests in such a project, but leaned towards his focus in the European markets considering wagons typically are more well received there than in the United States. This idea of poorly received wagons in the U.S could be changing as the Honda Accord Coupe and Nissan Altima Coupe have been selling well and who is to say that this Kia Optima wagon coupe couldn’t sell well just as they have.

The Optima is a relative of the Hyundai Sonata, the two vehicles have slight variations. The new Optima have a new GDI 2.4 4-cylinder engine with the option of a 6-speed automatic transmission with Eco dash display or the Optima is offered with the standard 6-speed manual transmission (which is standard in the LX model). The Kia Optima will not officially be at your Antioch used cars dealerships until the fall of this year; however it was released earlier this year in the South Korean market under the name, Kia K5.

The future has arrived; think back to films like the Fifth Element or Minority Report and I am sure you were thinking “Wow, will we ever live in a world that futuristic?” Well folks, we are almost that high-tech as the new Kia Cadenza brings us one step closer.

How does this magical luxury feature actually work? Depending on how far away the sensors detect the obstacle, an alarm will sound at timed intervals, as the distance between the vehicle and the car lessen, the alarm sounds will emit more sounds in less time. Essentially the closer you are the more beeps you will hear.

Aside from the auditory aid there will be a visual aid warning you in the form of graphics that will appear on the cluster monitor. A warning light will provide appropriate and accurate warnings to the driver. The Cadenza has a total of six sensors to help safely and successfully park your vehicle, with two in the front and four in the rear. Who knows, very soon the car might just drive itself. Not everybody is expecting the Chicago Auto Show to be a huge zinger of an event, but at least one showstopper is anticipated to make an appearance, and that’s the new plug-in concept vehicle from Kia, codename “Ray.”

In Chicago, Kia Soul buzz is relatively old news, but the new Ray is the wave of the future for Kia, who in the last year has pulled out all the stops to show that they absolutely can compete with the longer-tenured, bigger-named automakers in the world. In late January, a teaser picture was leaked to the press that showed the Ray in all its glory, cruising through some sort of futuristic, poorly-lit tunnel.

While the setting looks like something from the movie “iRobot,” the car itself is like a gorgeous little silver bullet. It appears to be some sort of sporty four-door sedan with dark-tinted panels on the roof that also slope down the back of the car. This could just be tinted windows, but it’s also possible that they include solar photovoltaic technology designed to use the sun’s rays to charge the car’s battery or keep the interior of the vehicle cool in summer months. Considering the car is named the Ray, it would make sense to utilize some sort of technology benefitting from sunlight.

The drivetrain is expected to be similar to that of Hyundai’s Blue-Will concept because the configuration for this vehicle is based on the configuration for the upcoming hybrid Hyundai Sonata. Whatever this car ends up being, we’ll get a chance to see it for ourselves on February 12th at McCormick Place in the Windy City. The media gets a preview of all the goodies a few days earlier, so less ambiguous pictures should be available even sooner than that, with more details to go along with them.
